Respiratory Innovation Summit Spotlights Organizations Driving New Ideas in Respiratory Care

The 2023 Respiratory Innovation Summit, hosted by the ATS, will unite the innovators, investors, clinicians, and advocacy groups dedicated to creating powerful new treatments for deadly and crippling diseases of the lungs and airways. Gathering small businesses and start-ups with the venture capital and business development communities, this event is designed to accelerate innovation by facilitating new partnerships between talented researchers and philanthropic investors interested in improving treatments for thoracic diseases.

This year’s summit will be held Friday–Saturday, May 19–20, at the ATS 2023 International Conference. In addition to the poster and oral presentations, registration includes a networking reception and dinner with a keynote address on Friday, as well as a full day of programming, continental breakfast, luncheon, plenty of networking time, and a closing reception on Saturday. Prospective attendees can view the full event agenda here.

“The Respiratory Innovation Summit has become such an important event for the respiratory community to allow innovators and start-ups in the respiratory space to network and present their ideas,” said past participant MeiLan Han, MD, professor of medicine and chief of the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of Michigan. “It just keeps getting better every year!”

All companies innovating in pulmonary, critical care, or sleep medicine are encouraged to apply to participate in this annual event. All applications are reviewed by a panel of experts from the event’s planning committee. After the committee’s initial review, 75 companies are selected to have their posters presented. Of those, 20 organizations will be given the opportunity to deliver an oral presentation pitching their company, product, or service.

“Through the event, we were able to connect with clinicians and other entrepreneurs in an open, welcoming atmosphere where ideas were the currency,” said Telesair Vice President of Sales and Marketing Andrew Hull, a past participant of the summit. “The clinical relationships we formed at the event helped validate our direction, set the stage for future studies, and confirmed to our prospective investors that our vision had the potential for disruptive and lasting impact.”

Anyone wishing to register on-site for the Respiratory Innovation Summit will be required to confirm their vaccination status at the main ATS 2023 registration desk in the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. For the health and safety of all attendees, no exceptions will be made.
